Stellar Debris

Bubbles, Curacao 2009

My name is Copper Penny,
child of turquoise waters and
indigo skies.

An algebraic formula of
harmonious delight.
Star dust fallen to the ocean;
Iron, calcium, and carbon
swirled in salty luminosity.

Alive and calm,
enveloped in a familial embrace,
the gurgle and echo of my own breath
a meditation sparking primordial memory.

  1. At first I thought this might be one of your paintings, the image is mesmerizing and complements your poem beautifully.

    "A meditation sparking primordial memory" sounds fascinating and if it were an invitation I'd accept it at once!

  2. Jennifer~I think water is an invitation in itself and I love how you turned these words into an invitation. It is such a lovely idea of how to look at poems~thank you! I took the photo while diving several years ago and those bubbles spark inside of me the happiest of memories. xoxo

  3. I keep reading the first line over and over. It draws me into a sea of colorful blues. Happiness.
