Doodles

Doodles
The new year flings her about
to and fro.
Her world contained in
a red suitcase
that meets TSA regulations
and Amtrack guidelines
and takes up little space in
the little spaces it has traveled to.

Packed inside
lifelines
and familiarities,
the kind needed to anchor
her to a life she still has
somewhere she is not.

A blank sketchpad
and ink pens
that allow magic to appear,
every now and then,
two dimensional as the magic may be.

This pronounced imagery stirs the imagination... I keep thinking of that red suitcase: where it has been and the emotions it has known.

I packed a suitcase containing these things for the very same reasons early this year ~ your words here flash a deep recognition for me.

    So lovely Stephanie!
